Don Elgin’s memoir One Foot Beyond the Podium follows on from his award-winning autobiography One Foot On the Podium*. His second book goes a little deeper, providing further glimpses into an existence dominated but not overshadowed by success as a Paralympic medallist, and insightful reflections and conclusions drawn from his broad experience of life in general. From the triumph of the Sydney Paralympics, Don has gone from strength to strength as a motivational speaker, mentor, coach and manager of other elite athletes – not to mention his important roles as husband and father. His story is one of courage, skill, perceptiveness – and importantly, fun. From the pressure of competing on the world athletics stage to the elation of walking the Kokoda Track, One Foot Beyond the Podium is packed with extraordinary tales and telling observations.
